Before we cover this update, let’s take a quick detour and review the last hotfix.

In case you missed it: v1.39.2 and addon removals

The v1.39.2 hotfix was released recently and resolves a few glitches that popped up after some Scratch updates. If you had issues with Sprite folders or custom color themes, those have been fixed in this version.

Since Scratch now has its own sprite deletion confirmation dialog and the discussion forums now use 3.0 scratchblocks, the addons for those have been removed, because now everyone can enjoy those features! 👏

📄 Choose what to do with conflicting asset names

When the new Asset conflict dialog addon is enabled, upon importing one or more costumes or sounds that have the same name as an existing asset, this addon will ask you if you want to replace it, rename the imported item, or skip the import.

With this new Scratch Addons update, which will be rolling out soon, we’ve made some improvements to existing addons to make them even more useful, and a couple new addons too!

Rearranging parameters in custom blocks

You may have once created a custom block with some parameters, only to realize you want to change their order, but found no such option other than to delete the parameters and re-add them. The new Rearrangable custom block inputs addon solves this problem by adding buttons to switch them around.

It’s time for another update, filled with exciting tools for project creation and some accessibility improvements!

An all-new costume editing feature

This addon adds a brand new costume editor feature - it’s called “Skewing in costume editor”.

Skewing lets you move one axis so that the object has a slant, as shown below:

You can use this to create slanted objects and italic text! To skew an object, enable the addon, then, while dragging a horizontal or vertical resize handle, hold Ctrl and drag parallel to the side. Hold Ctrl and Alt simultaneously to skew it out in both directions.

Welcome back! We’ve got some new changes and features to enhance your experience and make some things easier to use in this Scratch Addons update:

Use the arrow keys to adjust numbers

Tired of typing in numbers when you just want to increment something by one? “Arrow key incrementation in editor” has come to the rescue! This addon makes it possible to increase a number in a block input by pressing ↑ and decrease it with ↓, which might sometimes be faster than typing in the number you wanted.

How to revert Scratch's purple changes

Scratch has updated the website and project editor to use purple instead of blue and introduced an option to use high contrast block colors. These change so their site can be more accessible and used by everyone, including people with disabilities. There’s more information about this change in the announcement by the Scratch Team.

We have updated Scratch Addons in response to this and suggest you try these changes, but if you still don’t like them, here’s how to switch back to blue. The links to addons will only work when Scratch Addons is installed.

Always see the creator in the crowd

Telling the creator of a project apart from other users in comments sections should be easy, especially when a user looks similar to the creator. One of our new addons is “Highlight project creator in comments”, which does exactly what it says! If you’re on a project page’s comments section and you find a comment posted by the creator of that project, you’ll see a “Project Creator” badge next to that user. This can help you quickly identify the real project creator.
